The Task 

During my Introduction to Visual Communication Design class, each group chose a company for a call to action campaign addressing a larger environmental issue.

 

The Objective

50 by 25, a company that provides weatherization (attic insulation, air ceiling, weather strips, LED lightsto homes in the Harrisonburg, VA area wanted to host an event to raise awareness for their company and cause. My group decided on a cookout to promote the goals of the company and give an opportunity for Harrisonburg residents to hear the importance of weatherization.

 

The Target Audience

JMU Students, Harrisonburg, VA residents, and Harrisonburg City Council.

 

The Big idea

Introducing Harrisonburg to weatherization.

The Problem

  • Harrisonburg makes $5 million per year selling electricity via HEC
​          - Hard to get city support
​          - The city is protective of venues
​          - Pushback on renewables

The poster would be printed and posted on walls and large poster containers in Harrisonburg.
 
It would help reach residents and pedestrians in the city to increase knowledge of the cause.
